Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
When can I drive again? You can drive after rhinoplasty as soon as you’re comfortable being in an upright position for a prolonged period of time. Also, it’s very important to no longer need any narcotic pain medication (like hydrocodone or oxycodone) that may affect your driving or use of other heavy equipment. Once you are pain free, you can drive. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
Will I lose sensitivity in the surgical area? It is possible to have temporary or permanent numbness to the tip of the nose after rhinoplasty. However, the area affected is so small that it may go unnoticed after time. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
How much pain will there be? Everyone’s perception of pain is different, but with oral pain medication, millions of patients have undergone rhinoplasty with a manageable level of pain. The most painful part of rhinoplasty is if you require nasal bone to be broken to provide you with the shape that you are interested in.
|
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
How long does it take for my results to look normal? After rhinoplasty, approximately 80% of the edema and swelling will resolve in 2 weeks but the last 1% of swelling may take up to a year.
|
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
Am I too old to be having this procedure? Old is a state of mind! If you feel that rhinoplasty will improve your appearance or self esteem and you are healthy, you may not be too old.
|
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
Am I too young to be having this procedure? For any surgery, patients must be of legal age to make a decision as an adult, which is the age of 18. In regards to rhinoplasty, you should wait until you feel your face and nose have completely developed into their adult shape. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
What age do you recommend having this procedure? With the consent of your parents, you can have rhinoplasty before the age of 18, however, it’s best to wait until you are sure you have reached your adult shape before prematurely altering your face or body. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
When can I be physically active again?You can be as active as you want because if something hurts with activity, you will minimize that particular activity. Many plastic surgeons recommend waiting at least 6 weeks before participating in any contact sports after rhinoplasty. But keep in mind, with a hard enough blow to the nose, it can still break regardless of whether you have had rhinoplasty or not. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
How soon can I resume having sex after my procedure? You can return to sexual activity as soon as you want as long as it does not cause you pain. That will be a decision only you can make. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
Will my life be at risk with this procedure?There are always risks with cosmetic surgery because, after all, it is still surgery. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
Is rhinoplasty considered a major surgery? Rhinoplasty is not as serious as heart surgery but the same basic risks are present, such as formation of blood clots in the legs while lying on the operating room table or risks associated with infection or anesthesia. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
When will the swelling go down? After rhinoplasty, approximately 80% of the edema and swelling will resolve in 2 weeks but the last 1% of swelling may take up to a year. |
||||
Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
How many visits does it take to see results? After rhinoplasty, approximately 80% of the edema and swelling will resolve in 2 weeks but the last 1% of swelling may take up to a year. Therefore, at your first postoperative visit, sutures will be removed but swelling will still be present. By the second visit, you will start to see your results. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
When can I drive again?You can drive after liposuction as soon as you’re comfortable moving around for a prolonged period of time. Also, it's very important to no longer need any narcotic pain medication (like hydrocodone or oxycodone) that may affect your driving or use of other heavy equipment. Once you are pain free, you can drive. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
Will I lose sensitivity in the surgical area?There is no permanent loss sensitivity in the surgical area and very few reports of temporary loss of sensitivity in the surgical area.
|
||||
Neck Liposuction
How much pain will there be?Everyone's perception of pain is different, but with oral pain medication, millions of patients have undergone liposuction with a manageable level of pain. Most pain will resolve within a few days and bruising will resolve in 1 to 2 weeks. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
How long does it take for my results to look normal?After liposuction, the skin has to tighten after the fat underneath has been removed. This tightening begins immediately after surgery but will become more noticeable with improved contours within 2 weeks, reaching a climax at 3 months but continuing at a slower pace for up to a year.
|
||||
Neck Liposuction
Am I too old to be having this procedure?Old is a state of mind! However, in the case of liposuction, older age may affect your results. Specifically, after liposuction, your skin tightens but the extent of tightening depends on the amount of collagen and elastin in your skin. As you get older, you have less collagen and elastin so you may experience less skin tightening after liposuction. Therefore, based on the recommendation of your doctor, you may also need skin removal at the same time as liposuction. As in the case of excess fat to the abdomen, you may need an abdominoplasty to remove excess skin since the skin may not tighten enough in older age after liposuction alone.
|
||||
Neck Liposuction
Am I too young to be having this procedure?For any surgery, patients must be of legal age to make a decision as an adult, which is the age of 18. In regards to liposuction, you should wait until you feel your body has completely developed into its adult shape. However, liposuction is more effective in patients under the age of 50 since they have more collagen and elastin in the skin and therefore will have greater skin tightening after liposuction. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
What age do you recommend having this procedure?In addition to determining if liposuction is the appropriate treatment for your concerns (excess fat, but minimal excess skin), you’re a good candidate for liposuction under the age of 50. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
When can I be physically active again?You can be as active as you want because if something hurts with activity, you will minimize that particular activity. You will be the best judge of what your body can tolerate after liposuction. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
How soon can I resume having sex after my procedure?You can return to sexual activity as soon as you want as long as it does not cause you pain. That will be a decision only you can make. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
Will my life be at risk with this procedure?There are always risks with cosmetic surgery because, after all, it is still surgery. If you are particularly concerned with the type of anesthesia you will need, speak with your doctor and see if your procedure can be done under local anesthesia or light sedation rather than general anesthesia that requires a breathing tube being placed in the mouth. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
Is liposuction considered a major surgery?Liposuction is not as serious as heart surgery but the same basic risks are present, such as formation of blood clots in the legs while lying on the operating room table or risks associated with infection or anesthesia. Additionally, liposuction, in rare instances, can cause particles of fat to enter the blood stream and travel to the lungs which can lead to shortness of breath but this is exceedingly rare. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
When will the swelling go down?Most swelling will resolve in the first 2 weeks but all of the swelling will need up to 3 months to completely resolve. Do not be disappointed if you feel that you are bigger immediately after liposuction – the instruments used to remove fat can cause trauma to the tissues that result in swelling but this will resolve quickly. You will be given a body garment to help with this swelling. |
||||
Neck Liposuction
How many visits does it take to see results?Depending on how often you see your doctor after your procedure, you will see results by the first or second postoperative visit within the first 2 weeks. |

Botulinum injection
What is the difference between Botox and Dysport? Many patients often ask me what is the difference between BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®. If you are not familiar with these products, let's start by explaining what they both have in common. These are both in the class of injectibles called neuromodulators. That is just a fancy term for injections that affect the release of chemicals from nerve endings to block or alter the effect on nearby muscles. So, in the case of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, they block nerves from stimulating muscles in the area of injection. This is why these products are so effective in removing wrinkles that are more pronounced when activating muscles in the face. Wrinkles that are very evident on the forehead when raising the eyebrows or the "elevens" in between the eyebrows or crow's feet around the eyes can be treated with either of these products and remove those wrinkles temporarily, thus giving you a younger more refreshed look. In general, both products last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. Both products are made from botulinum toxin and both come in a bottle as a powder and must be mixed with saline before injecting. So what are the differences? Both companies obviously argue their product is better based on their differences. I honestly do not know what is and is not true in their literature but I will give you my opinion based on differences I have seen in my patients and what my patients have noticed themselves. It appears that while BOTOX® Cosmetic takes effect in 1 to 3 days and lasts for 3-6 months, Dysport® takes effect in 2-4 days and lasts for 3-6 months. It may not seem like a big difference and it may not matter to most people but if you have a high school reunion in 1 to 3 days, you may want to go with BOTOX® Cosmetic! As for price, Dysport® costs a little less but it also requires a little more product to have the same effect as BOTOX® Cosmetic. However, this difference can be eliminated by the amount of saline used to reconstitute or mix with the product. I mix my saline with Dysport® so that it is more potent with each injection and therefore I use the same volume of product for both BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® and therefore they cost the same. In summary, they are both good products, both work, both are cleared by the FDA, so which should you use? Whichever one is being provided as a promo by your trusted plastic surgeon!

Facelift
I was wondering could EMS (electrical muscle stimulator) for the face cause fat atrophy? I have read that RF (radio frequency) can cause this side effect because of thermal heating. Would EMS also be able to cause this effect and also are there any other possible irreversible side effects? Thanks Lisa. P.S. I have been using the Rio 60-second face lift EMS device.You're in luck! You have nothing to worry about because the Rio 60-second facelift EMS device has minimal effects of any kind - wanted or unwanted! The device has very low levels of energy and if it has any tightening effect, it is probably measured only in minutes. There have been no clinical studies to show that it has any short or long term effect and therefore does not appear to have any effect on fat atrophy. |

Your pricing for the west cost for a facelift is half of what I have been given from 4 Drs in Ca & NV. What Dr will do it for your price list. The price I get for just a face & neck lift is $16,000 to 20,000. Yes, you are correct - based on an average of all of the doctors in our network in the West, the average estimated price for a Facelift is $9,843. This includes all fees. But this is a estimate. Maybe you were given a higher price because they were including other ancillary fees or maybe those doctors had a great deal of experience? Sometimes greater experience is worth the higher price. In San Francisco however, the price will be closer to $12,000. Hope that helps and we're happy to answer additional questions if you have any. |

Facelift
I'm currently 55 years old, I've had multiple reconstructive surgeries after double mastectomy, which is still not right. I had a facelift with hope to increase my self esteem and after my facelift with fat grafting my Marionette Lines and Jowls are much more prominent than before surgery, plus I'm more asymmetrical than before surgery! I'm 5-years post op and still have numbness in various areas on one side of my face, and I have an itchy tingle on one ear that is very bothersome. I feel that I look older than before surgery. This has made me very depressed and I have no desire to socialize. What can be done? Thank you.You may want to opt for non-surgical options at this point. Fillers and Botox can go a long way to address those issues since you've already tried surgery. Other non-surgical energy-based options are a possibility too. It's best, at this point, to find a board-certified plastic surgeon near you and see them in person to understand your options. Best of luck. |

Chin Enlargement
I'm interested in getting a chin implant to improve my side profile but I also want to improve the overall appearance of my face. I don't like how flat my nose is and how my face doesn't have definition. Especially my cheek area. Are there any injections that would help this? My features tend to disappear from the side view. Also I have a fatty hump between my nose and upper lip and would like to know if that can be taken out and more flat?A very common combination procedure includes a chin implant along with fat injections to the cheekbones. Fat is not injected into the cheeks themselves since that would give a chubby cheek appearance. The fat is injected along the cheekbones. This, along with a chin implant will give you the results you're looking for. |

Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
Hallo, my name is Elen and I have had 3 failed rhinoplasties in the past. The nasal septum keeps deviating over and over again. I'm frustrated and don't know why it keeps deviating. I try not to think about what might have gone wrong, but it is impossible. I'm thinking about what I did that might have been the cause, over and over again. What keeps driving me crazy most of all is this: On the third day of surgery (my last rhinoplasty) I pulled (not lifted) a drying rack with many wet towels on it (which means heavy stuff) for 2-3 seconds with one hand. Could this be the cause? Doctors keep saying that you should not lift heavy weight after surgery and my questions is why? To just avoid nose bleeding and swelling? Or can it also cause the stitches to Any kind of strenuous activity can increase pressure in your abdomen or face when "bearing down" which is why doctors recommend minimal activity after abdominal surgery or facial surgery. The increased blood pressure can lead to bleeding. Cartilage can warp and deviate even after surgery but if too much cartilage is removed, that may reduce the structural support of the nose, leading to a shift in the nose as well. A surgeon who only specializes in nasal surgery may be your next step. Best of luck. |

An operation behind my ear left one half of my face uneven is it possible to fix this with surgery? If there was injury to a nerve cause the unevenness, then yes, that can be fixed with a nerve graft during surgery. You just need to find a plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon that specializes in nerve grafting if in fact that's what you need. |

I shaved my eyebrows when I was a kid, they grow back thicker and rougher making me look like Shrick or even worst.Is there any way to recover the original soft,thin and normal shape of my eyebrows?Here is some photos to see what i'm talking about:https://ibb.co/m3B7y8https://ibb.co/nAEGrThttps://ibb.co/jmv0J8Yes, you have options! If you can find an aesthetician that focus on facials and brows (most of them do), they can either use threading or other treatments to improve the contours of your brows, reducing the thickness. There's no guarantee that it will change the texture of the brows but with contouring, they would be improved. |

From there, you can discuss your procedure/share photos and then check pricing on the procedure they recommend. Best of luck. |

Lip Enlargement
Hello I had lip injections on Friday Sept 1st. The next day I had blurry vision so i contacted my injector she told me it is not related. However I am still worried so I made an appt to have an eye exam. I’m also wondering if it could take 5 days for an occlusion to show? Usually any occlusion of the retinal artery causes blindness, not blurry vision. Also, an occlusion due to injection of the lips would cause problems with blood supply to the lip area, not the eyes. Occlusion of the retinal artery is usually caused by injection around the eyes so it would be hard, if not impossible, to cause injury to the eyes when injecting into the lips. Additionally, the effects of an occlusion would occur immediately, not 5 days later. Best of luck and hopefully your blurry vision will resolve. |

I am 26 years old and just last year I started noticing a change in my face. I have always looked years younger (23 looking like I’m 17/18) but back then I also weighed a lot less. I gained 20+ lbs rapidly in less than a year, started losing a little bit of it just last year and now it seems my age has all of a sudden caught up to me. I think it’s because my face is maybe in the inbetween of being full from extra weight to not being as big. And I have been extremely stressed the past year as well. Is there anything you could recommend? I know this is nothing serious like a full face-lift, but this makes me not feel very good about myself. Thank you so much. Weight loss combined with nonsurgical treatments like filler to the upper face or along the jawline can help restore a more youthful face. A consultation with your doctor could provide more insight. |

Chemical Eye Rejuvenation
I am a 24 year old female with under eye issues. When I was younger I always had dry skin under my eyes and I was always exfoliating to remove the dry/dead skin and I think I seriously damaged the skin under my eyes permanently. The skin is wrinkly with a 'crepey' texture. It is not smooth like other young adults. Is there any way to make my under eyes look better or will they be stuck like this? Would Glytone Enerpeel for eyes and lips do me any good? I can also provide a picture if needed. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you Any over the counter topical cream, like you're suggesting would be a good first step, even if it doesn't work. Fillers under the eyes would be a good second step to help with that crepey texture. Anything surgical seems premature at this point. Best of luck. |

Botulinum injection
I am content with the left half of my face, but the right half is very asymmetrical and noticeably uglier than the left. The main problem with the right half is the eye. The right eye has mild strabismus, a lower bottom eyelid, and is set lower, closer to the nose, and deeper than the left eye. What type of surgeries, training, etc should I do for these problems? By the way, I have mild scoliosis as well, I don't know if this might be contributing to the problem. I've always had slight asymmetry and a lazier eye, but I think the asymmetry has gotten worse in the last two or three years. Thanks! Believe it or not, something as simple as Botox around the eye can help with the asymmetry you're describing. It's not permanent but it is also non-surgical. |

Correction of Split Earlobe
I was curious to know if you could make your ear lobes bigger? I have gauges, and I know about reconstruction to make them smaller; but is there anyway to make the gauges bigger? My ears are thin, and I wont be able to reach my dream size naturally. The only way to make them bigger is continuing to expand them with progressively bigger gauges. It may just take longer than you like to get to your dream size. |

I have an appointment for Ultherapy on my face. Two weeks later I have a revision rhinoplasty scheduled (very minor). Is there going to be an issue? My pre-op consult with ny doctor is 2 hours before my Ultherapy session so I don't have time to consult with him and then cancel. Thanks in advance for your time and help! These treat totally different areas, one is non-invasive and the other is a surgical procedure so it does not appear there would be an issue. You could always call the office and ask the doctor/nurse before your treatment day. |

I’m looking to get my lower lip fixed . I have a scar from a burn that happened years ago . Now it looks like I have a deep wrinkle on the left side of my lower lip that just looks odd . Any way to make it look somewhat normal again?A deep wrinkle could be treated with filler and depending on the depth, possibly a deep chemical peel. Your dermatologist, plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon can provide greater insight after an in-person consultation. |

Brow Lift
I used to have a wide forehead an naturally high eyebrows. Yesterday, i had a forehead reduction procedure and i pointed out many time that i do not want my eyebrows to go any higher since i read before that the brows can be lifted at the same time of the patiend desire.. To my surprise, when i woke up and took a look at myself i burted in tears because my eyebrows flew soo high up and i look surprised all the time! The nurses said it could be due to the head wrap and that i do not look swelled yetAnd i kept asking for the doctor, when he came 8 hours later at first he said Please take a deep breath.....and now, take another deep breath....better?! You just had your operation yesterday so it is way to early to judge anything. There is no question you have swelling that soon after the operation so you just have to give it time to settle. And then you can decide what to do from there from if you need a revision, you should wait at least 6 months to see where things ultimately settle. Best of luck. |

What can I do to make my face more symmetrical? I feel like one side is a lot bigger. My eyebrows and eyes are also shaped differently. I also need Kybella or something of the sort for my chin. Thoughts on Kybella vs Cool Sculpting for making a chin and jaw more pronounced?Kybella and CoolSculpting are both great options. Keep in mind that Kybella can lead to a weeklong swelling after treatment and requires 2-6 treatments whereas CoolSculpting may only require 2 weeks. The best way to non-surgically to symmetrize your face is with Botox and fillers. Best of luck. |

Lip Enlargement
I want to change the shape and thickness of my lips but I’m not sure what procedure to look into. My mouth is very wide, and I have no upper lip and almost no bottom lip. They basically look like a straight line across my face, is it fixable and what would I need to get done?Sounds like the most appropriate first step is something minimally invasive and not permanent like lip fillers. You can see if you like it and then move on from there to more invasive or more permanent solutions like lip implants or fat injections to the lips. |

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to have any surgery which can increase the length of the tongue. Is there?There are definitely procedures to release the frenulum (band of tissue) under the tongue which can allow greater movement of the tongue in children who are "tongue tied." This doesn't technically lengthen then tongue but allows greater movement. There are also procedures to split the tongue but no procedures to lengthen the tongue. |

Facelift
I had a mini facelift & neck lift the beginning of December, 2020. I am unhappy with the results and need to find a plastic surgeon for a revision. Especially there is an issue with my ears, I believe they are called pixie ears. How long do I need to wait to have a correction? I would like to have the revision done ASAP. Thank you so much!Waiting at least a few months for full healing is the best course of action initially. The expense of going to another doctor will be significant. Hopefully you still have a good relationship with the original surgeon because they can address your concerns at minimal or no cost. |

Nose Reshaping and Breathing Improvement
I had a rhinoplasty and septoplasty 16 days ago. My columella got infected. When will the infection go away with antibiotic cream ? Will the infection effect my result?It now looks lower and bird Like and very fat. My surgeon told me it’s infected. I noticed it on day 9 but my surgeon thought it was post op swelling but than she noticed it on day 16 when it got worse. One side of my nose has swollen bigger since than and one nostril looks very small because of swelling inside nostril. The inside of the nostrils have crust and skin inside the nostrils looks like small hills.My surgeon gave me a cream that contains Antibiotics. When will the infection go away with the antibiotics cream i started using yesterday? And will this infection effect the result. (Nose was made slimmer, hump removed and septum straightened) Because you're so close to your operation, you really need to stick with the advice of one doctor - your surgeon. Having too many cooks in the kitchen, providing different advice will lead to more confusion and complications. Best of luck. |

If the results of the Silhouette Instalift last on average 18-36 months as I've read and the primary long lasting benefit is the collagen stimulated, does that mean after 18-36 months the collagen stimulated from the procedure is no longer there?That's correct, the result of the procedure continues to work because of the collagen formed but once the collagen is degraded and absorbed, the treatment may need to be repeated.

Smile Lines Gel Injection
I have had pmma a permanent filler injected and would like it removed, there are doctors in Brazil and Italy that claim they can remove it with an intralesional method with laser under the skin then suctioning out. Would this work? It is much less invasive than surgery.The good and bad news with PMMA is that it can last a long time if you like the appearance but it can also last a long time if you're unhappy. You should ask the doctor who treated you initially if they are familiar with the technique described in Brazil and Italy. Because if they remove it, they're less likely to charge you. |

Forehead Reduction
Hard solid lump on left side forhead does not move and does not hurt feels like bone I have had this eversince childhood when I questioned parents as to how It got there they was not sure but said it could be as a result of head trauma as a child I would like to know if this could be removed or shaved down. I can provide CT scan images and report. Kind regards This sounds like an osteoma - a hard lump of bone, often found on the forehead. It could be from trauma but often the cause is not clear. If it's close enough to the hairline, an incision can be made within the hair to conceal a scar, and the bone can be shaved down from that hidden incision. Go to BuildMyBod.com/pricing to find a doctor near you. |

Can blood vessels grow back after filler complication? I had vascular occlusion in my lip and now have discoloration due to the compromised blood flow. Can this heal over time and can a revision be done safely with this condition? If time will not help, is there anything I can do to heal the damaged skin with compromised blood flow?Sorry for this complication. Collateral, additional blood supply does improve after a vascular occlusion but it may take an extended period of time for the skin discoloration to improve. A dermatologist could recommend laser or IPL treatments to improve the condition but it may take several treatments over months or years. Best of luck. |

Skin Rejuvenation with IPL
Hi there,I think I have made a terrible mistake: I had an Aptos thread lift in early February, and then had VBeam laser about 10 days ago. Have I damaged my threads?Thanks for your help.Our understanding is that the VBeam laser only treats the epidermis and the threads are deeper in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue. You can also ask the provider that did the treatment. |

I had a facelift a year ago February. There was a stage side effect, something to do with loss of blood flow and I developed a big red patch on my face. 8 months after the surgery I started having micro needling (recommended by the surgeon). I have had 4 treatments and there has been improvement but not a lot. My questions is, would a Fraxel laser be a better option?Thank youBased on the description, it is very difficult to understand exactly what the red patch was. Rather than recommending a different treatment option, the best recommendation is to get a 2nd opinion from a board certified plastic surgeon. |
