Botox and fillers are pretty commonplace these days. To reduce wrinkles caused by overactive muscles in the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes (crow’s feet), Botox is your weapon of choice. For deep lines like the parentheses extending from the nose down to the corners of the mouth, fillers work best. But when do they start to work? How long do you have to wait?
When Botox and fillers start to work
With the wrinkles to the upper face, Botox is king. Botox or Xeomin can relax the muscles that cause those wrinkles. The only problem is you don’t know if you have adequately treated those areas until about three days later. So while you see the wrinkles and you inject those areas, it takes about 3 days to see the effects. Those effects hit their maximum effectiveness seven days later.
The problem is that the patient may need to come back a week later if the results aren’t evident. That’s in contrast to fillers for deep wrinkles. The effects of fillers are immediate. So if the patient wants more, you can do that. Especially if you’re a doctor that provides pain control with a dental block, the patient will want to simply get it done all at once. They don’t want the hassle of coming back a week or two later, getting the dental block again and then receiving more filler.
