Everyone always throws out terms like bridalplasty to describe various plastic surgery procedures that a bride receives before her big day…what about the mother of the bride?! The mother of the bride wants to look her best as well. Here are a few things the mother of the bride can do to shine but not necessarily outshine her child on their big day.
Botox and Fillers
By far the easiest of all nips and tucks, Botox can be done safely one week before any wedding photos are to be taken. By then, any bruising would have resolved and the Botox will be in full effect. The wrinkles in between the eyebrows that can make people looks angry will be gone and everyone will see how happy you are for your child’s big day, even if you’re not thrilled about the groom (or bride)!
Fillers to the lips are perfect for the mother of the bride as well. As mothers tend to be older, their lips start to thin with time. Getting lip fillers two weeks before the wedding is the perfect amount of time for any swelling to resolve and any bruising to fade. Remember, you don’t have to get fish lips. A little plump is perfect for the big day.
Upper Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)
The upper eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is great to give the mother of the bride a rested look. Obviously the wedding preparations will be exhausting but the mother doesn’t have to show it. A blepharoplasty has very little pain associated with it and just a bit of bruising. It’s probably best to do this procedure three weeks before the wedding to be sure the bruising is gone. The stitches will be removed in only three days!
Facelift
The grandmother of all cosmetic procedures, the facelift requires a little more preparation and planning. You really want this to be done 2 months before the wedding. It’s not just bruising and swelling that you want to be done, but right about the two-month mark, the facelift has a particular “shine” that will dazzle all of your guests and make everyone jealous. And of course, isn’t that why you’re having the wedding?!
Don’t forget that with a facelift comes a necklift so if you’re only self-conscious about the neck, be sure and tell your doctor. It’s possible to do the necklift without the facelift and the recovery is quicker.
Liposuction or CoolSculpting
If you plan ahead, liposuction will give the the most aggressive result in removing stubborn pockets of fat. About 85% of the fat can be removed with liposuction but it does require about three months for swelling to go down and the skin to tighten. If you don’t have three months to prepare, then CoolSculpting is another great option. CoolSculpting is the non-surgical reduction of fat. No needles. No downtime.
However, you’ll only get about a 25% reduction of fat to the area treated. While the full effects of CoolSculpting take two months to see, you can see results in as early as two weeks and that amount of time and a 25% reduction in fat may be all you need to fit in your dress!
