Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition in which the nerve (median nerve) which supplies the thumb, index, middle, and half of the ring finger is compressed, resulting in numbness and tingling. Through a small incision (about 2 cm), the transverse carpal tunnel ligament, (a band of tissue compressing the nerve) is visualized and cut, taking the compression off of the nerve.
