The meniscus is a rubbery, C-shaped area of cartilage that cushions the knee joint. Each knee contains two pieces: one on the inner side (medial meniscus), and one on the outer side (lateral meniscus). With the use of arthroscopy your surgeon can evaluate the type of tear that you have and with the use of instruments placed through small incisions in the knee, the tear can be treated.
