Often times, patients would come in and ask for liposuction. Just get rid of the fat and be done with it they would say! However, with J. Lo and/or Kim Kardashian proudly showing off their buttocks, patients want to reuse and recycle their fat. Instead of throwing it out, they want the fat injected into a less impressive area.
All of the fat removed from the body during liposuction can be kept sterile, then separated from any excess fluid and reinjected into the smile lines of the face, the breasts and of course the buttocks during a Brazilian Butt Lift. I’ve had both men and women request their fat be injected into their pecs/chest!
Fat can be used for non-cosmetic purposes too. Some women that undergo breast reconstruction after a mastectomy may eventually develop small divots in the new breast. This is from “fat necrosis” where some of the volume of the newly reconstructed breast is lost through a natural process. Fat taken from elsewhere can be injected into these contour deformities to restore the shape of the breast.
So be eco-friendly and recycle your fat and take it from where you don’t want it and put it where you do want it!
