Every time I perform a Brazilian Butt Lift, I’m always surprised that even in the thinnest of patients, they still have fat hiding in their inner thighs! I’m not suggesting everyone needs liposuction to their inner thighs. However, if you’re considering buttock augmentation but worried you may not have enough fat, you actually might.
The inner thighs are where it’s at!
For those not aware, a Brazilian Butt Lift is the procedure where fat is taken via liposuction from all over the body and then injected into the buttocks. This is done in a sterile manner by capturing the fat in a canister, drawing off excess fluid and injecting pure fat. You can see the procedure here.
Typically plastic surgeons take fat from the abdomen and flanks with or without a tummy tuck. Taking fat from the inner or outer thighs is the next place we harvest fat. Even in the thinnest inner thighs, there’s probably 1-2 liters of fat from that area alone!
In the past, patients simply came in for liposuction to improve the contours of their body. But now, in the age of recycling and reusing our “natural resources,” they recognize they don’t have to just throw away that fat. Buttock augmentation with fat is safe and avoids the risks of buttock implants. Those risks involve infection or “extrusion” of the implant through the incision. At the end of the day, fat from the thighs for buttock augmentation will always be safer.
